The Dún Laoghaire Storytelling Festival

Experience the magic of storytelling and live music at The Dún Laoghaire Storytelling Festival, taking place from 12th to 14th May in various venues throughout the town. A diverse array of global performers will gather to share their distinctive tales, wit, and musical prowess.

@Digital Dun Laoghaire Led The Way For The National Connected Hubs Showcase Day

26th April 2023 saw hubs across the Connected Hubs network stage open day events as part of Ireland’s inaugural Showcase Day, a day highlighting the benefits of hub working in Ireland. Digital Dun Laoghaire, besides organising the event, took the opportunity to launch Digital Dun Laoghaire’s inaugural ‘Digital First Communities’ Benchmark of Dun Laoghaire Town. The report, which is a collaboration between Digital Dun Laoghaire, Tidy Towns, DLR County Council’s Smart Dun Laoghaire and students from the Masters in Smart & Sustainable Cities at Trinity College Dublin, is intended to be a roadmap for positioning the town to attract investment, knowledge workers, home buyers, shoppers and visitors.

The DLBA wishes to invite all Dún Laoghaire businesses (members and non-members) for input at the meetings below. We would strongly encourage you to attend one of these informational meetings.

Message from Frank Curran, Chief Executive of Dun Laoghaire County Council

In the county council’s press release, Frank Curran stated that it has been a busy start of 2023 for the county. He continues to work closely with the county’s senior management team and local councillors on the wide range of service areas and strategic priorities. Línte Na Farraige at the Martello Tower in Blackrock, 50 Active Travel projects, and housing, are just some of the topics he addressed in this feature.

 

ArtNetdlr – a focus on the Voluntary Art Group in Our Town

ArtNetdlr is a voluntary group working with the support of the dlr Arts Office. Currently there are over 500 members from the Arts Community and it is the largest artist network in the country. ArtNetdlr offers support, networking opportunities, professional practice development, and organises exhibitions, events and curates collaboration between different art forms, including visual arts, sculpture, poetry, writing, music and theatre. ArtNetdlr engages independent artists and curators to host large group exhibitions and solo shows. These exhibitions provide vital opportunities for artists to show and sell their work.

Public consultation on the Local Economic Community Plan – 2023-2028

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has appointed KPMG Future Analytics to assist in preparing Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown’s (DLR) new Local Economic and Community Plan 2023-2028. The new plan will seek to achieve our vision for a progressive climate resilient County that is inclusive, promotes quality of life, health and wellbeing, economic activity and employment and builds a better future for all.
As part of the consultation process we are now inviting key stakeholders, including businesses operating in the county, to participate in a workshop on the new LECP. The workshop will include discussions on the draft high-level goals as set out in the draft Socio-Economic Statement (available here) and give an opportunity to provide your views on the development of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown over the next number of years.

The Zip Yard Wins Retail Franchise Award
