The Dún Laoghaire Baths has earned a prestigious Architectural Review public award 2024 for dlr Architects and A2 Architects. It has also been nominated for The European Prize for Urban Public Space 2024. Dún Laoghaire Town has secured the 4th spot in popularity among Irish beach locations based on social media and online reviews. This reflects the town’s charm, tourist appeal and regular appearance in social media posts.
The Dargan Forum, Dún Laoghaire 2024, themed “Putting People and Places First,” was a great success with a dynamic lineup of events and speakers. The town is set to host the 13th annual Ukulele Hooley in August, featuring international and local talent. Besides festival attractions, Dún Laoghaire focuses on community enhancement with exciting projects like converting the Old Coastguard Station into a national sailing performance centre and hosting in Walters the Duende exhibition curated by Louise Neiland. Businesses in the area can now avail of up to €10,000 from the DLR LEO Energy Efficiency Grant to adopt sustainable practices.

According to Donegal Live, the popularity of each beach location in Ireland has been assessed based on the number of hashtags and views on Instagram, TripAdvisor, and Google rankings. Our town proudly holds the 4th spot in this fierce competition.
Dún Laoghaire’s Dargan Forum 2024 – Bigger and Better than ever!
“Bigger and better” was the pledge given by Eoin Costello, director of the Dargan Forum, Dun Laoghaire 2024, and that promise was certainly fulfilled. This year’s Dargan Forum 2024, focused on the theme “Putting People and Places First,” featured five events over two days, bringing together 45 expert speakers, four parallel sessions, five different venues, and 150 attendees.
Ukulele Hooley in Dún Laoghaire Again
Now in its 13th year, the Ukulele Hooley will feature top international ukulele players alongside local talent. Dun Laoghaire will welcome thousands of musicians this autumn to Europe’s oldest ukulele festival. The town will come alive with ukulele music as fans from Ireland and beyond gather for this renowned event.
Scheduled for August 24 and 25, the festival’s highlight is the free concert in People’s Park on Sunday, drawing thousands of spectators.

Dún Laoghaire’s Old Coastguard Station to Host Sailing Performance Centre
Planning permission has been granted to convert Dun Laoghaire’s Old Coastguard Station into a sailing performance centre. As mentioned on Afloat.ie, this high-performance sailing unit is part of Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council’s vision for the National Watersports Campus, outlined in January 2023.
