In early January, we conducted a survey of Businesses in Dun Laoghaire outlining how 2016 was compared to 2015, and looking towards their projections for 2017.
The feedback was positive with 65% of respondents stating that turnover had increased in 2016 and 52% of businesses said that they had noticed an increase in footfall.
In terms of recruitment for Dun Laoghaire, only 4% of respondents mentioned that they would be employing less people in 2017, while 61% they would be recruiting new staff to the town this year.
There are a few key areas which were of most concern to businesses in Dun Laoghaire; for the second year in a row, parking in the town topped this list of concerns, while the number of empty retail spaces, the towns footfall, and the variety of shops available also made the list.
Overall, the outlook for businesses in 2017 is much more positive than negative, with 61% saying that have higher expectations for their business in 2017.
