The Press Photographers Association of Ireland is delighted to announce that its ‘Press Photographer of the Year’ 2019 exhibition will remain on display in the DLR Lexicon for visitors to view & enjoy for a few more weeks; with its stay now extended until Monday, 26th August 2019.
Featuring 101 prints the exhibition, which has proven very popular with visitors to the DLR Lexicon during July, chronicles the year 2018 covering all the highs and lows including the many sporting events both at home and abroad, the momentous Papal Visit as well as the catastrophic weather events including the infamous ‘Beast from the East’.
The overall award of ‘Press Photographer of the Year’ 2019 was presented to Tom Honan, a freelance photographer from Dublin at the awards ceremony earlier this year. Tom started his career with Inpho Photography before moving on to work for a time with The Irish Mail on Sunday. He is no stranger to the PPAI Awards stage having received 9 awards to date in previous years. His winning portfolio this year features work commissioned by The Irish Times.
Local freelance photographer, Michael Chester, was awarded 1st prize in the Sports Feature category for his photograph, ‘Shower Power’ which is one of three of Michael’s photographs featuring in this year’s exhibition.
