 There are several exciting initiatives to share with you this month. A new Seaside Discovery Free Bus Tours will operate every 45 minutes from Dún Laoghaire Harbour to Sandycove throughout the summer. The Dargan Forum, focused on technology and social innovation, will be held on July 4th in County Hall, Dun Laoghaire. This year’s Bloomsday celebrations will feature various events locally, including bike rides and museum visits. DLR LEO are recruiting businesses for their Export Development Programme which offers small business owners guidance on navigating global trade. DLR Coastival returns from June 29th to July 7th with diverse activities in the town and harbour. As part of the Government’s THRIVE initiative, twenty-six town centers, including Dún Laoghaire, will receive up to €200K for revitalizing heritage buildings. It’s Local Elections time and this provides an important opportunity to let your voice be heard. DLR County Council has launched an ambitious Tourism Strategy which aims to establish Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown as a premier tourist destination by 2028. The Enterprising Women Network will host a networking event on June 25th. There was a nice piece on the preservation of the harbour’s Coastguard Cottages on RTE Nationwide.  And finally Summerfest, featuring over 50 acts, will take place from July 5th to 14th across various venues in Dún Laoghaire Town.

New in Dún Laoghaire – Seaside Discovery Free Bus Tours

Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, in collaboration with the Dún Laoghaire Business Association, is thrilled to unveil the Seaside Discovery Free Bus Tours. This fresh initiative will run from Dún Laoghaire Harbour to Sandycove every 45 minutes from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM daily throughout the summer.

Dargan Forum – Europe’s boutique conference on the intersection between technology & social innovation in the heart of Dún Laoghaire

We are excited to share with you that the Dargan Forum will be back for the second year in a row with national experts and practitioners sharing insights on how we can harness technology to put people and places first. Dún Laoghaire Among The Towns Awarded the Town Centre First Heritage Revival Scheme (THRIVE)

Twenty-six town centers will each receive up to €200K through the THRIVE initiative, part of Ireland’s European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Regional Programmes. This Town Centre First Heritage Revival Scheme encourages Local Authorities and residents to reimagine and rejuvenate town centers by renovating and repurposing publicly owned vacant or derelict heritage buildings.

Local Elections – Let Your Voice Be Heard

Local Elections occur every five years, allowing you to choose the candidates who will represent you and your community at the local government level. Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council consists of 40 elected representatives who play a crucial role in our Council.

DLR CoCo – Ambitious Tourism Strategy

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council unveiled their ambitious Tourism Strategy to establish the County as a premier tourist destination by 2028. The vision is for Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown to be recognized as a connected and immersive destination, providing enriching and unique experiences along the coast, in the Dublin Mountains, and in its charming villages and friendly towns.

Enterprising Women Network Meeting 25th June

Join the Enterprising Women Network on Tuesday, June 25th at 7pm for a walk on the pier, followed by wine and finger food at the Royal St. George Yacht Club. This is our summer event, and we’re hoping for dry weather for a pleasant stroll down the East Pier—perfect for adding to your daily steps! We’ll network during the walk and then unwind at the Yacht Club with more networking in an informal and relaxed setting.

Dun Laoghaire Harbour’s Coastguard Cottages Refurbishment Featured on RTE

The RTE Nationwide TV program visits Dún Laoghaire Harbour on the south side of Dublin Bay to explore a Local Government-supported project that has rejuvenated some old harbour cottages.

Dun Laoghaire – Summer Fest

Featuring over 50 acts, this year’s Dún Laoghaire Summerfest will unfold across various venues in Dún Laoghaire over a two-week period from Friday, July 5th to Sunday, July 14th, 2024. Tickets are limited!
