June was full of excitement for Dun Laoghaire, with a variety of events and acknowledgments. We are looking forward to the Coastival event and the Dargan Forum 2023 by Digital Dun Laoghaire. Our town was celebrated for its swimming spots and got a mention in the Irish Mirror as Haddington House made one of the top beer garden spots in the country. The culinary scene in Dun Laoghaire stood out, going by Ireland Before You Die’s list of local top 10 restaurants. The Pipeworks Festival 2023, specifically Matthew Owens St Michael’s Church performance, highlighted the vibrant arts scene in town. A local Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown company won at the National Enterprise Awards while community funding of €698k was awarded to local projects. Lastly, the Shop Local Rewards App launched to support local small businesses.

Digital Dun Laoghaire presents the DARGAN Forum 2023
At a time when we face major challenges across a wide range of areas, the inaugural DARGAN Forum will provide a national discourse on the potential for Digital First Communities to fulfil ‘The Promise of a Better Tomorrow for People & Places’Irish & international experts and changemakers will share their insights and experiences at this free event which is taking place on the morning of 6th July in DLR County Hall, Dun Laoghaire as part of Coastival.
Pipeworks Festival 2023 – Matthew Owens at St Michael’s Church Dun Laoghaire
Pipeworks Festival for its final event will have a Belfast-based organist Matthew Owens, a renowned recitalist and choral director, give the Irish Premiere of Howard Skempton’s Preludes and Fugues. The event is on Sunday 25th June at 8 pm at St. Michael’s Church in Dun Laoghaire.

€698k community funding awarded to local projects in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is very pleased to announce that 23 projects were successful in receiving funding totalling almost €698,000 under the Community Recognition Fund 2023. All the successful projects address the needs of the wider community of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown to improve community services.

At DunLaoghaireTown.ie we recently met a group of small retail business owners who have come together to help sustain Local Businesses in these trying times. They have developed a unique Loyalty App — that not alone acts as a Loyalty system but also as a Booking Platform – Order Platform and Direct connector to an individual business own website.
It’s built from a small business owner’s viewpoint of what is needed with the help of Developers — rather than from developers’ view of what the business needs.
