5pm – Saturday 18th November, Harbour Plaza

The time is almost upon us, where we welcome Mr. Santa Claus back to town and launch the 2017 Dún Laoghaire Christmas Festival.

The event is going to start at 5pm with the Dún Laoghaire School of Music showcasing their talents by performing a mix of Christmas Classics and Pop Smash Hits. The performance will feature a full band, violin soloist and a choir of 50 children from the area.
We’ve had a sneak peak at their set list, so let us just say; you’ll be Happy and Feelin Good, after Letting them Entertain You, and ready to party Cause Santa Claus Is Coming To Town (not to give too much away  ).

At around 5.45pm, the man of the moment, Santa  will arrive into Dún Laoghaire where he’ll be escorted down George’s Street, on to Marine Road and into Harbour Plaza by the Harley Davidson Club Ireland. (Don’t worry, his Reindeer are resting up before their big day next month  ).

Once Santa has met all the girls and boys, he’ll be asked up to the stage where he’ll begin the countdown to turn on the Christmas Lights.

Then to close the opening ceremony at 6pm the Fireworks Spectacular will light up the skies around Dún Laoghaire. The Fireworks will be launched from the Carlisle Pier so the best viewing locations will be Harbour Plaza, George IV Monument, The East Pier and The Pavilion.  ✨

Wait… hang on a sec, just because the ceremony is over it’s no reason to rush home, the Christmas Market on the Metals, by the dlr LexIcon will be open, and there are so many family friendly restaurants to choose from, there’s no better way to get in the Christmas Spirit, than a wonderfully festive evening in Dún Laoghaire.

See you on Saturday 18th for some merriment.

We’re working on a Christmas in Dún Laoghaire Event Calendar at the moment, so once it’s ready we’ll keep you up to date with everything that’s going on during the most wonderful time of the year! HoHoHo! ⛄️
