The world famous Ukulele Hooley in Dun Laoghaire is back after a COVID-enforced two year absence.
The Hooley, which is now in it’s 11th year, see ukulele players and fans from all over the world descend on the south Dublin seaside town for a weekend of entertainment.
Once again, the highlight of the three-day festival will be the free concert in the People’s Park, Dun Laoghaire, on Sunday, August 28th, which attracts thousands of fans.
The 2022 Hooley – which is supported by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council – will see all of the usual attractions that fans love:
- Workshops
- The Bus Busk
- Open Mic
- The Big Concert and Jam
“We are absolutely delighted to be able to bring the Hooley back,” explained organiser Niall Carty, “the Hooley was really missed by players in Ireland and abroad and by fans who came every year.
“This is a free, family focussed, fun event that has grown into an internationally recognised celebration of the humble ukulele which is now one of the most popular instruments in Ireland. The Hooley has been missed but we are back in full swing,” he added.
The Hooley will see ukulele performers from Ireland, the UK, US, Belgium and elsewhere taking part.
Amongst the top performers on the bill for Ukulele Hooley 2022 are:
- Christopher Davis Shannon (US)
- The Ukulele Uff Trio (UK)
- The Dublin Ukulele Collective (Irl)
